Phillida Cheetham - Couple and Family Psychotherapist

About Me

I am an experienced systemic psychotherapist working with couples, families and individuals in-person in Walthamstow and online.

Why Therapy?

When we are struggling to navigate life’s difficulties, therapy can offer us a space to reflect on dilemmas, patterns or dynamics which may be feeling painful or stuck.

For couples and families, therapy offers a space for people to develop a greater understanding of each other, both when someone is experiencing mental health difficulties and in the context of general relationship distress. I have a particular specialism in working with people who are parents.

My Approach

My approach is appreciative and strengths-focused. Whether you are coming as an individual, a couple or a family group, I offer a warm and non-judgmental space to explore the complexities and dilemmas that you are facing.

Experience

Alongside my private practice, I work in a local authority social work team with parents and children who are navigating family life in the context of mental health and relationship difficulties, often alongside severe intergenerational trauma. I have extensive experience of working in children’s social services, child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and NHS adult mental health settings. I currently run groups for parents and carers whose children are violent towards them, and a support group for adoptive parents. I also teach and supervise social workers and trainee psychotherapists.

Contact

I offer a short initial chat on the phone to see if we are a good fit to work together. You can email me at [email protected] to organise a time to speak.

Rates

Individual session: £80
Couples session: £120
Family session: £140

I believe that therapy should be accessible to those who need it: please contact me to discuss if cost is a barrier to you attending.
