Second Spring
At seven times seven a woman’s heavenly dew wanes; the pulse of her Conception channel decreases. The Qi that dwelt in the baby’s palace moves upward into her heart, and her wisdom is deepened.

Extract from Yellow Emperor’s Classic – a Chinese Classical book written around 2600 BC

Second Spring is an ongoing fortnightly therapy group for women in perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, menopause is called the Second Spring of a woman’s life. It represents the renewal of energy and opportunities; a shift from fertility and reproduction to conserving and nourishing the self. In many cultures, ageing is widely celebrated and elders are revered; with age comes the gift of wisdom, innate confidence and life experience. Yet for many women in our culture we go into this stage of life with fear and uncertainty whilst experiencing challenging changes to our bodies and conflicting advice from medical professionals.

In this supportive, ongoing women’s group we will explore how we can thrive and grow in this new chapter of our lives. Whether you choose a natural route, HRT or a combination of both, we will share ideas on self-care, discuss current research and views and most of all celebrate our wise and experienced bodies.

We will meet fortnightly on Tuesdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm at Walthamstow Therapy. No prior experience is required to join the group, only a desire to work with others as we learn how to care for ourselves in this new phase.
