Tony Antrobus

MA, Int. Dip. Counselling.
Tony Antrobus - Therapist & Counsellor

I am a BACP registered integrative therapist working with adults face to face and online. I am able to work with flexible and different approaches, styles and techniques with clients because a person has a unique subjectivity and story to tell.

I am a passionate about the benefits of therapy and its capacity to change peoples’ lives for the better and the people in their life too. Therapy for me is really about the client- therapist working relationship, the emotional bond we have and if that feels supportive and safe then many positive changes can and do happen.

I believe poor relationships to others and just as important, to ourselves is what often causes much mental illness like anxiety, depression and stress. Sitting together in a safe and accepting space to explore your thoughts, feelings, fantasies & desires without judgment, giving these the time and attention they deserve, which can be difficult, is definitely worthwhile for emotional growth and lasting positive change.

I have worked with clients with many issues like isolation, addictions, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, low self worth, loss and bereavement, relationship break-ups/ difficulties, work/life balance and work related problems. Clients sometimes work with me on a medium or long term basis depending on their issues.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a teacher in further education in East London with young and mature adults for many years and saw that the most valuable learning happens when students feel heard and valued. I now bring that non-judgmental attention to my therapeutic work. Having trained in fine arts in the 1980s I also have a painting practice with a studio in Hackney.

I offer a free initial telephone chat often followed up with a consultation so you can tell me in more detail about your issues. This allows you to experience what it might feel like working with me.

Rates

My fee is £65 with some flexibility for concesssions depending on client financial circumstances.
Consultation fee is £70.
